Mortgage Help Coming to Connecticut

October 12, 2011 (Shirley Allen)

Bank of America has opened another customer assistance center to serve its mortgage customers who are facing difficulties paying their mortgages. The new assistance center is located in Southington and serves mortgage customers throughout Connecticut.

The new customer assistance center will be staffed with Bank of America home retention specialists that customers can meet face-to-fact to review their options for home loan modifications or other alternatives to foreclosure.

Retention specialists at Bank of America customer assistance centers follow each customers file through the entire loan modifications process and can review loan modification files already in progress, make on-site decisions and assist borrowers with other foreclosure solutions if loan modification is not possible.

“Bank of America has assisted more than 11,000 Connecticut homeowners with permanent modifications since January 2008, but there is more work to be done,” said Rebecca Mairone, national mortgage outreach executive for Bank of America Home Loans. “We recognize the importance of face-to-face outreach, and expect that making ourselves even more accessible to homeowners who are having difficulty making their payments due to economic conditions will have a significant impact on our statewide foreclosure prevention efforts.”

According to the latest Obama Administration’s Housing Scorecard, as of August 31, 2011, Bank of America had completed 136,195 permanent loan modifications so far this year under the federal government’s Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), more than any other mortgage servicer in the United States.

More than 28,000 borrowers also are participating in active trial modifications.

Bank of America has opened over 35 customer assistance centers in 2011. Home retention specialists are available to meet with borrowers by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Customers can make appointments and get more information on required documentation by calling the center at 860.385.9259.
