The record low mortgage interest rates in June were a boon for homeowners who wanted to refinance, but they didn’t help the nation’s new home builders as sales of new single-family homes fell in June according to the latest housing data released by the Census Bureau.

Refinance Applications Hit Three Year High

Mortgage applications were slightly higher as refinance applications increased modestly after last week’s big jump, but applications for home purchases continued to decline according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending July 20th, 2012.
